ARNO Animal Rescue New Orleans Inc

Animal Rescue New Orleans (ARNO) is an organization created and dedicated to the rescue and aid of abandoned and homeless animals started out in the wake of Hurricane Katrina including responding to the immediate needs and medical care of those very old, very young, sick, neglected, abused or deprived of love. ARNO promotes the foster, adoption and reunion of pets with caretakers as well as spaying and neutering all companion animals through our no-kill shelter.

Since 2006 ARNO has evolved from a triage unit in the wake of Hurricane Katrina into a permanent no-kill shelter/grassroots rescue and a vital part of the community. ARNO has rescued and rehomed more than 12,500 animals since March of 2006. ARNO pulls from municipal shelters but also rescues animals whose owners can no longer keep them. Our pet retention program assists those who qualify with pet food, but also medical care for their pets to help keep pets with their people. We cannot continue this important work without you.
As a no-kill shelter ARNO has to think out of the box to place animals who are sick, seniors or very shy. Foster homes truly help those special pups and kitties find great homes. ARNO is volunteer based with only a handful of dedicated employees. The lifeblood of ARNO is our volunteers and staff with their incredible passion and dedication. ARNO is very excited to announce a recent move to a permanent new shelter building. We left behind the warehouse we have been renting since 2006 after Katrina. We join the ARNO cats and dogs being over the moon in the new building!

I am writing about my experience adopting my two dogs Molly and Benny. I saw Molly on the website and fell in love. My husband and I went to Petsmart to meet her and it was a definite match. Her foster parents brought her to our house and she has been with us ever since. When I saw a Doberman on the site, I brought Molly to meet her and she wasn’t a good fit for our family, but Ginnie was super understanding and suggested Benny. They save lives everyday. We have adopted and fostered for them. They care about every animal they rescue and work tirelessly to rehabilitate (when needed) and find every one of them a forever home.
