504HealthNet is dedicated to ensuring everyone in our community has access to high-quality, affordable primary care and behavioral health services irrespective of the person's ability to pay. To do this, 504HealthNet supports an integrated and coordinated network of healthcare providers in the Greater New Orleans area through advocacy, outreach, and education efforts. 

This year, we are launching a region-wide messaging campaign to ensure every resident of the Greater New Orleans Region gets connected to care and stays connected to care - no matter what’s happening with insurance and Medicaid changes. 

Every dollar fundraised will go towards getting the word out to the ~200,000 patients our members serve, to residents who have lost healthcare coverage and to those who have never seen a primary care doctor that Quality Healthcare is Nearby no matter your insurance status or ability to pay. Too many changes are happening at the federal and state level for patients to keep up, but 504HealthNet member clinics help their patients apply and re-apply for Medicaid, maintain coverage, and offer sliding-scale services.

New Orleanians face a rapidly changing healthcare landscape and increasing barriers to care: 

• Louisiana new Quarterly Wage checks went into effect in 2025, dropping 25,000 people from the rolls in one year

• Federal HR 1 changes to Medicaid including limited immigrant eligibility, more frequent eligibility checks and workers’ requirements 

• UnitedHealthCare’s state Medicaid contract ended, leaving hundreds of thousands of patients unsure of their coverage status

Increased verifications & eligibility checks mean more paperwork, more confusion, more people losing coverage even when they are eligible for benefits and more disruptions to care. 504HealthNet member Community Health Centers are on the frontlines of supporting residents through these changes and ensuring access to care.
