Operation What's Next

Operation What's Next provides outstanding mentorship and guidance to young adults that will give them essential tools to enhance their education and career potential. The mentoring program is a workshop format at the school every two weeks. I attribute the success of the program to hands on learning with on-the-spot constructive critiques. As a result, two volunteers received Volunteer of the Year from Jefferson Parish School Board in 2011 and 2012.

Operation What's Next created a Trainee Program, which focuses teaching job skills, teamwork, and financial management. Each participant is assessed on academic knowledge and talents to set an attainable program goal. Once identified, the protégés are placed on a path which involves a specific job, community service, and financial management. Each participant will be assigned a team to execute certain events, through those events they will be assessed on timeliness, task completion, and team work. Finally, each participant receives a stipend and their management of those funds will determine if they receive any savings matching.

In two years, the Operation What's Next Trainee Program successfully trained 38 protégés and paid 38 Senior Budgets and school dues totaling $40,300.00.
