St. Tammany Animal Resource Team
St. Tammany Animal Resource Team (START), founded in 1997, is devoted to reducing the number of homeless animals in our community. We are an all volunteer group which depends on donations and fundraisers to pay for veterinary care and spaying/neutering of animals. All donations to START go directly to benefit the animals. Our rescues are fostered in the homes of volunteers until placement. START is working toward the day when no animal is killed simply because it does not have a home.

All donations remain here in our community and support programs provided to individuals who are on their own personal journey towards recovery. Contributions help to continue funding and expanding NAMI St. Tammany services as we seek to improve the lives of our community and erase the stigma associated with mental health conditions.

St. Tammany Outreach for the Prevention of Suicide
STOPS' mission is to reduce the incidence of suicide and its devastating aftermath in our community. In 2014, there were 16,108 homicides and 41,143 suicides in the U.S. St. Tammany parish has one of the highest suicide rates in Louisiana. St. Francis Animal Sanctuary
To operate a compassionate, no-kill animal sanctuary for the ill, the un-adoptable and the elderly; provide animal rescue, medical care, and a temporary haven for adoptable animals until qualified homes or rescues are found; and unite with local and national animal welfare organizations to promote spaying and neutering.

We provide trained volunteers to advocate for the best interest of foster children in the St. Bernard and Orleans Parish court systems. Animal Helper
Animal Helper is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to alleviating the suffering of animals, mainly canine, in the Greater New Orleans area. Animal Helper rescues canines from local kill shelters, and occasional owner surrenders, who have been scheduled for euthanasia or who have been deemed non-adoptable. These animals are then placed into foster homes where their medical and behavioral needs are addressed by volunteer foster parents.

Animal Rescue New Orleans (ARNO) is an organization created and dedicated to the rescue and aid of abandoned and homeless animals which started out in the wake of Katrina including responding to the immediate needs of those in need of medical care or who those too old, too young, too sick, neglected, abused and deprived of love. ARNO promotes the foster, adoption and reunion of pets with caretakers as well as spaying and neutering all companion animals through our no-kill shelter.
