My son Saul was born prematurely and died in 2014. His life inspired the creation of Saul's Light. Saul's Light has grown beyond our wildest dreams. We have provided hundreds of thousands of dollar to families for non-medical financial assistance. We hold a yearly summit to address health and equity in local NICUs. Saul's Light helps New Orleans families navigate the trauma of the NICU journey and supports them through infant loss, ultimately improving perinatal outcomes. Pairing direct support for NICU families with advocacy at the provider, facility, and state levels to address disparities in care, experiences, and outcomes, Saul's Light is working to build a world in which all parents and babies experiencing a NICU stay or infant loss receive equitable, dignified, and evidence-based care as well as the support they need to have the best possible mental and physical health outcomes.
