If you know me, you probably have heard about my job. I work at Children’s Bureau of New Orleans because I believe in helping the children who need it most. Over the last year, I have been working in schools and responding to crises. My clients have gone through things most will not experience in a lifetime. They are resilient, looking for a safe place to land in their often chaotic worlds. CBNO has become that safe place for many. I do this work for them, for their families, and for New Orleans, in the hopes of creating a brighter future for all three. Over 1/2 of the children we serve have experienced physical abuse, sexual violence, or loss of a close relative to homicide. We help them, placing our therapists IN schools so they can heal where they are, with the specialized care they need. Our services are free of charge, but with federal funding cuts, there’s a real risk that children will lose access to us.
