Fundraiser Story

7 months ago, I moved from Maryland to New Orleans to serve in the Avodah Jewish Service Corps at Southeast Louisiana Legal Services (SLLS). As a Tenant Advocate at SLLS, I support renters in a city on the frontlines of the climate crisis. During my service year, the city and its housing have been impacted by extreme weather events, including a hurricane and historic blizzard. I have also witnessed how housing-insecure residents have been impacted by New Orleans hosting some of the largest tourist events in the country, such as the 2025 Super Bowl. The experience of listening and learning from those who are most vulnerable to extreme weather and climate events has inspired me to stay in justice work for the long haul. l am grateful to Avodah for the opportunity to conduct community-centered work focused on restorative justice. I have been able to do this while strengthening my relationship with Judaism. Your donation will go to Corps members and the orgs we work for. Thank you.
