PJI is committed to: *Ending the death penalty *Challenging the state's routine practice of keeping people in prison after they have completed their prison sentence *Fighting for people sitting in prison without constitutional criminal convictions *Taking on the exploitation of people forced to work in plantation fields at Angola Prison *Creating transformative justice *Developing new ways of thinking and believing through narrative change and storytelling *Organizing for collective power and change *Envisioning what community looks like where people have value, the government believes in freedom, joy is practiced, and dreams are embraced

Promise of Justice Initiative fights for the dignity, freedom, and autonomy of those targeted and touched by the criminal legal system and for an end to mass incarceration. We are building a better world -- a world where justice means a legal system that embodies an ethos of transformation, restoration, and safety, and values community, family, dreams, and joy as part of Black life and all life. We believe that a better world is possible. We believe in the promise of justice.
