The Saul’s Light Foundation brings hope, community, and critical resources to families with babies in the NICU across our region. As many of you know, I was born 14 weeks early in 1978, weighing just 1 lb 9 oz, and spent over 3 months in the NICU. I know firsthand how overwhelming that journey can be—and I can only imagine how much my parents would have benefited from an organization like Saul’s Light. My story is just one of many. Every family facing the NICU needs support. Saul's Light helps New Orleans families navigate the trauma of the NICU journey and supports them through infant loss, ultimately improving perinatal outcomes. Pairing direct support for NICU families with advocacy at the provider, facility, and state levels to address disparities in care, experiences, and outcomes, Saul's Light is working to build a world in which all parents and babies experiencing a NICU stay or infant loss receive equitable, dignified, and evidence-based care as well as the support they need to have the best possible mental and physical health outcomes.
