After twelve years with the New Orleans Workers' Center for Racial Justice-first as Director of Administration and Finance and now as interim Executive Director-I've witnessed countless transformative moments that fuel my commitment. I've seen day laborers who were once cheated out of wages become powerful advocates at City Council. Through administrative challenges and budget cycles, what keeps me returning is witnessing this alchemy: individuals confronting overwhelming systems becoming a collective force for dignity, economic justice, and workplace safety in our recovering city. This work matters because I've seen marginalized communities recognize the capitalistic systems of workplace oppression, discover their collective power, and use that knowledge to create lasting systemic change.
