While working for the City of New Orleans, I saw first hand how the lack of trust and transparency hurts us all. That is why I got involved with CBNO. Bridging the gap between the people and city government is only the first step towards building a better tomorrow for the City. I’m so proud to be a part of an organization that has been able to push common sense reforms that make the city better off. For instance, until recently the City’s budget process was just a three week period in November limiting the ability of both residents and our City Council from thoroughly reviewing the budget and getting questions answered. CBNO’s advocacy helped change the city’s charger successfully adding four additional weeks to the budget process. In addition to these important advocacy efforts, CBNO has become a convener of the community with its annual block party, its leadership institute, and its many other events.
