The Pro Bono Project

Fundraiser Story
Pro Bono work always interested me, but my work with this organization has open my eyes to why access to justice is so important in helping the underserved in our community climb out of poverty. This work is vital in cities like New Orleans, where the poverty rate sits at almost 25%. The Pro Bono Project's services contribute to our community in so many ways. They represent grandparents trying to get custody of their grandchildren when the parents are unable or unwilling (lightening the burden for the state); PBP helps folks gain generational wealth by assisting with uncontested successions (often then allowing for unpaid taxes to be paid on a property and avoid foreclosure). They help with divorces, ensuring that cost is not a deciding factor in getting out of an unhappy marriage. The PBP can help with POAs and wills as well, ensuring that one's final wishes will be honored regardless of income.
The work of The Pro Bono Project is vital now more than ever. Please consider a donation!

About the Organization
The Pro Bono Project's continuing mission is to provide free, quality civil legal services to the under-served members of our community. Our work today is as important as at any time in our thirty-nine-year history. By engaging volunteer attorneys, paralegals, law students, and private citizens to render pro bono services, The Pro Bono Project serves clients in Orleans, Jefferson, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Tammany, and Washington parishes who otherwise might not have access to justice.
