Healthy Gulf

Fundraiser Story
Healthy Gulf is a based in New Orleans and serves the communities in the five Gulf states. I am the water program director there and cover water, and wetland issues in Mississippi and on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain. With my dad, I caught eels on the Lake Pontchartrain seawall in 1963 in the pre-Gulf Outlet days, and learned to use a fly rod on Big Creek in Tangipahoa Parish at the age of 7 - my relationship with water and fascination for what's in it started early and I never looked back. Experiences like those made me care about the health of the water that's all around us.

About the Organization
Healthy Gulf's purpose is to collaborate with and serve communities who love the Gulf of Mexico by providing the research, communications and coalition-building tools needed to reverse the long pattern of over exploitation of the Gulf's natural resources.
