Fundraiser Story
This Give NOLA DAY we're hoping to raise funds for our Community Filmmaker Cohort!
ABOUT THE COHORT:
Since 2021, the Cohort has supported 20 filmmakers in completing 8 films, 3 of which earned the 2022, 2023 and 2024 New Orleans Film Festival's Audience Awards. Help us continue to broaden our impact, empower more storytellers, and support the community at large!
This year's cohort is focusing on Black Maternal Health.
Your donation directly impacts the 2024-2025 Community Filmmaker Cohort. They’re producing two documentaries about Black Maternal Health that highlight challenges black-birthers face while birthing in institutions and shedding light on the difference birth-workers make in Louisiana.
Your gift today will help us provide:
stipends for our filmmakers, equipment, location cost,
travel to capture real stories across communities,
mentorship and wellness support.
Your donation makes a REEL difference! Filming starts in three weeks!

About the Organization
NOVAC empowers storytellers and communities by providing education, training, and resources in film, TV, and digital media.
Our vision is that storytellers in Southeast Louisiana have equitable access to creative and economic opportunities in film and digital media, and the agency, voice, and vision to tell their own stories. We seek to have community stories represented by community storytellers at the highest level of practice.
