A college degree can uplift families and communities. But finishing college is hard! Especially if you're the first in your family to go, or if you have to work over 20 hours a week to afford school. When Paris Woods and I co-founded College Beyond 10 years ago, our vision was simple: build a homegrown organization that helps New Orleans youth thrive in college. Since then, College Beyond has helped more than 1,500 undergrads to and through college. With the support of our skilled coaches and holistic programming, more local students are making it from freshman year to sophomore year, and from undergrad to college grad. This helps them as individuals, and New Orleans as a whole. Ten years in, we have a lot to celebrate, and a lot more to do!
