As the Avodah Service Corps Member at SLLS, I have had the opportunity to understand how limited the legal system is in helping those needing to leave abusive partnerships. This experience has cemented my dedication to building a more humane society where we seek to dismantle the systems of abuse and poverty that contribute to domestic violence. This is not a lesson and perspective I could have learned anywhere other than Avodah.
