Fundraiser Story
The small but mighty non-profit! One Book One New Orleans' work supports literacy, builds community, and promotes meaningful dialogue between people of diverse backgrounds. We do this by calling on all New Orleanians to share the experience of reading and discussing the same book each year. We also provide literacy resources to organizations and individuals throughout our community, including schools, prisons and jails, and other community organizations. I am incredibly excited that we were able to start a book club inside the Orleans Justice Center, where authors get to discuss their works with our incarcerated community members. I am even more excited that through One Book, my pre-covid book club inside the Juvenile Justice Center is already in the works to make a comeback. Reading is and has always been a joy to me, and I am so excited to work with an org who believes in the power in making all of us "readers"!
