The Bayou Playhouse, located in Lockport, Louisiana, opened its premiere season in 2008 and has established itself as the only non-profit professional theatre south of New Orleans. The primary mission is to support Southern artists and present plays that celebrate Southern culture, as well as literary classics, and support community events all in an intimate, down the bayou setting.

Over the years, the Playhouse has produced and presented over 50 productions including main stage theatrical performances, stand-up comedy, world premiere productions, concerts, and a film festival. The Playhouse also has a thriving arts intensive education program for children aging from 7-17.

Nestled alongside the banks of Bayou Lafourche, the Bayou Playhouse sits in historic Lockport on 101 Main Street. Not only are stories told on stage, but the area is blossoming all around with tales of the past.
"Great small theater, with BIG personality. We've made the 2 hour drive a few times now and have been pleased, entertained and amused each time. Great place, great productions." - Tara Lynn

"Thank you for such an amazing performance of To Kill a Mockingbird this morning. Your actors helped our students make so many new connections to the work. We hope this is the beginning of a brand new tradition." -Thibodaux High School, Wade Rodrigue

"Seriously love the passion and the heart that goes into each and every production! Tonight's play was by far the best I've seen! (Lion King) and I love to see the emotion and the raw talent from the youngest on stage to the one who've done it for years! These kids and adults have outdone themselves! And I appreciate how much they included my stepson while showing him around and getting him geared up for next summers camp! Amazing experience and I will give the Bayou Playhouse a 5 star rating over and over again!" - Nicole Guidry

"We thoroughly enjoyed "It's a Wonderful Life". The use of the media screen is an excellent much nicer than the distraction of set changes.
One more yourself a favor and see this production." - Darlene Rose
