Motherhood can be deeply beautiful — and also deeply isolating.
For many Spanish-speaking immigrant mothers in New Orleans, the transition into motherhood happens far away from family, familiar systems, language, and community support. The emotional challenges of matrescence, migration, identity changes, anxiety, overwhelm, and loneliness are often carried silently and without adequate culturally responsive support.
Circle of Held was created to help change that.
Circle of Held is a community-based initiative focused on supporting maternal resilience through connection, emotional support, psychoeducation, mindfulness, and shared community experiences. Our mission is to create safe and welcoming spaces where mothers can feel seen, supported, and held during one of the most transformative periods of life.
Through our Maternal Resilience Circles, Spanish-speaking mothers gather in small supportive groups to connect, reflect, learn, and build community together. These circles are designed to reduce isolation, normalize the emotional realities of motherhood, foster self-compassion, and strengthen emotional wellbeing through culturally sensitive and community-centered support.
This fundraiser will help support the launch of a 4-week maternal resilience circle for Spanish-speaking immigrant mothers in New Orleans.
Donations will directly help provide:
• Childcare support during sessions
• Educational and wellness materials
• Community gathering space costs
• Light refreshments for participants
• Mindfulness and psychoeducational resources
• Operational support for pilot programming
Our vision is to build sustainable, accessible, and culturally responsive maternal support spaces that strengthen both mothers and the communities around them.
Every contribution — large or small — helps create a space where mothers can feel less alone and more connected.
Thank you for helping us build community-centered maternal wellbeing through compassion, support, and shared humanity.
Circle of Held operates under the fiscal sponsorship of ECCO NOLA.
