Innocence and Justice Louisiana Fundraiser

In Louisiana, the vast majority of incarcerated individuals do not have the right to counsel in their post-conviction proceedings. However, post-conviction is a critical stage of a criminal appeal and the mechanism by which those who are wrongfully convicted or unfairly sentenced - whether they are innocent, received an unconstitutional trial, or were given an excessive sentence - can challenge their convictions and sentences. Innocence & Justice Louisiana (IJLA) is the only nonprofit law firm in Louisiana focused on post-conviction in non-capital cases.
