In February 2019 I joined a team that had a vision and passion to work alongside amazing youth to transform their communities, environment and themselves by engaging in the meaningful work of growing healthy food.  I had my fair share of knowledge about farming and living off the land as a way to get sustenance and nourishment for my body and soul; so this was a perfect fit!

As a child, I grew up alongside five brothers, one sister, and my parents; who were far below middle class and just above the poverty line ("but you couldn't have told me I was poor"), and we learned that gardening, fishing, and some government commodities were the way to survival. So it is truly a blessing to be able to work alongside such amazing youth who:

🍅 want to make a difference in their neighborhoods,

🍅 share a vision of social change, and

🍅 discover alternative food systems.

Your donation, no matter the amount, makes a big difference for our youth participants.  This first job experience and youth leadership program is changing how they see the world.  I'll leave you with a reflection from a youth crew member so you can experience how your donation can grow.

"We grow with the farm. You know how a plant starts growing, when first it's just leaves, then the fruit comes? Well, that's how I feel like it went.  I started as something small and branched out and grew stronger and eventually became this beautiful fruit.  I started growing slowly, but then as I started doing more, I transformed and changed as a person.  As we went along, the hard work made me have more pride in what I was doing.  It was challenging, but that's what was meaningful about it."

Thanks Everyone!!!
