"The children, they don’t do the sentence, but they do the time.”
This film tells the story of Ricky Tisdale, who was sentenced to FOUR life sentences for a drug offense in which no one was harmed. He shares that the hardest part of incarceration isn’t the noise or the barbed wire, it’s the moments you can’t get back, like reading bedtime stories to his daughter, who was just two years old when he was sent to prison for forever.
Because of Innocence & Justice Louisiana (IJLA), an independent 501(c)(3) unlike any other innocence organization in the world, and its Unjust Punishment Project, Ricky is now home. Today, he is not only present for his daughter, who is now a mother herself, but he is also a grandfather, reading bedtime stories every chance he gets.
But this work doesn’t happen without your support. Nearly one-third of IJLA's funding comes from individual donors, and the need is urgent and crucial. There are more than 8,000 applications for help and over 1,100 cases waiting for investigation.
Please support Innocence & Justice Louisiana today. Imagine the impact you can make by making a donation today.
