REJOICE, Inc.’s mission is to “Equip and Empower youth, their families, and individuals for Excellence and Service” by providing educational, emotional, and physical support to help them get and stay on their feet. Our volunteers offer a variety of services, including post-hurricane house gutting, debris removal, and distributing cleaning supplies, clothing, non-perishable food, school supplies, uniforms, and housewares. We also provide counseling, substance abuse prevention and recovery support, job training and placement in partnership with Work Force Connection, after-school tutoring, Camp REJOICE Summer Camp, and the Juneteenth Community Awareness Festival. Every August, we host a Back-to-School Day with food and gift cards to support the purchase of school uniforms and school supplies. Since December 2017, we’ve been delivering healthy, tasty meals monthly to senior saints and those who are homebound.
Additionally, our "We Care Initiative," our literacy arm, adopted Bunche-Washington Elementary STEM School in Metairie, supplying age-appropriate books and art supplies to all 400+ students, supporting 4th-grade field trips, and contributing to other school activities. Books and supplies are provided to the local Night Out Against Crime. A Saturday Youth and Parents Book Club is in the works. For our Juneteenth Celebrations, academically and culturally appropriate books and games are provided for young children through senior adults.
