NOLA Nature School

Our mission at NOLA Nature School is to provide all children and families with an educational opportunity that respects the place where we live and follows the interests of the students, supports all domains of a child's development and encourages children to develop a deep appreciation for our natural world. Operating on the firm belief that nature provides ample resources through which children can learn, NOLA Nature School integrates the philosophy of Reggio Emilia into our unique place based education.

NOLA Nature School provides our students with numerous opportunities for learning and growth through play-based, hands-on experiences. We believe that both the physical and emotional development of young children is the cornerstone of later academic success. Guided by highly trained early childhood educators teaching alongside certified master naturalists, each class has the available resources for both social emotional development and nature immersion. Our students are given the opportunity to develop an intimate relationship with the bayous and wetlands of southern Louisiana. Early exposure to the beauty of our unique ecosystem teaches our students to promote the health and survival of the natural world, essential to their role as its future stewards.

NOLA Nature School started as a Saturday only enrichment program but has since grown into a daily school program which offers class for pre kindergarten and kindergarten age children. As we continue to grow with our local community, we strengthen our commitment to place-based education by using nature and our city as both the classroom and subject matter. Our program utilizes the teaching tenets inspired by Reggio Emilia to guide our curriculum and support child-led inquiry because we believe children are capable, curious, and strong.
