Jewish Children's Regional Service

$5,619 raised by 51 donors

For 171 years, Jewish Children's Regional Service (JCRS) has served vulnerable Jewish children and families across seven Mid-South states. JCRS provides need-based support, resources and services for Jewish youths and families that will promote their welfare, education, and self-identity. Through our scholarship programs—camp, college, disaster relief, and special needs assistance, as well as our outreach services such as PJ Library and Oscar J. Tolmas Hanukkah gift program—children experience the joy of Jewish summer camp, continue their education, and receive the special needs care, treatment, and support that will allow them to thrive.

In 2025, more than 2,100 youth were impacted through our work, including more than 60% of Jewish youth from Greater New Orleans, ages 17 and under.
* 498 JCRS camp scholarship aid recipients attended 63 different Jewish overnight camps
* 109 undergraduate students attending 55 different colleges received financial aid
* 250 Jewish youth and 30 institutionalized adults were provided Hanukkah gift packages
* 1,272 Jewish children, ages 6 months to 11 years, served by the PJ Library® and PJ Our Way programs
* 55 Jewish youth received special needs case management and support, including 49 youth with emotional and/or developmental disorders, and/or dependency needs who received funding for services and therapies, including youth with autistic spectrum disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, cognitive, speech/language and other developmental delays, ADHD, and other learning differences

Testimonials

"I was able to attend Jewish summer camp for two years because of the generosity of others who give to Jewish Children's Regional Service scholarship funds. I also got some college tuition assistance for LSU through their programs. I am very grateful for all the past donors and their impact on young lives." -Former camp and college aid recipient who is now a cardiologist in Georgia

“Thank you very much for once again contributing to our child’s joy this Chanukah season. We dearly appreciate and are so grateful to you, JCRS and all of the wonderful volunteers who lovingly give your effort, time and dedication. We cannot thank you enough!” - Words of gratitude from a Hanukkah gift recipient
