$5,000 Goal

The Greater New Orleans Interfaith Climate Coalition (GNOICC) supports underserved Louisiana faith communities most impacted by environmental racism through education, advocacy, and technical assistance to confront rising environmental challenges.

Louisiana families face devastating hurricanes, chronic flooding, extreme heat, and toxic exposures that harm health and finances and strain community infrastructure. These burdens fall disproportionately on communities of color in areas like Cancer Alley, where cancer risks far exceed the EPA’s acceptable limit.

GNOICC mobilizes trusted faith institutions to respond. Through our Green Leaf Communities Initiative (GLCI), supported by the Deep South Center for Environmental Justice, we equip congregations to create Environmental Justice Action Plans that reduce toxins, conserve energy, prepare for storms, and build leadership in communities often excluded from decision-making.

We also host seasonal educational events, distribute hurricane preparedness and recovery resources, and adopt an annual public policy platform to advance legal protections

We aim to realize the hurt we create through our out-of-balance lifeways, restore just relationships with our humanity and the Earth, and rejuvenate harmonious ways for us to live that honor the sacredness of Earth.

Mission

GNOICC engages, educates, and equips Louisiana’s faith communities to respond to the moral urgency of the climate crisis. Grounded in a belief that environmental stewardship is a sacred responsibility, we work across religious traditions to promote climate justice and sustainable practices that protect both people and the planet.
