Contemporary Folk Collaborative

The Contemporary Folk Collaborative (CFC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that envisions a world where our best creative selves can thrive. 

We believe that everyone has the capacity for creativity, being creative is integral to our health, and everyone deserves the resources, space, and community required for their creativity  to flourish. 

The mission of CFC is to preserve, promote, and prepare “the Folk” to be successful in their creative endeavors and everyday lives. At CFC, we define "the Folk" not only as artists and culture bearers but as the everyday people who make up the fabric of our community.

We envision a New Orleans where our best creative selves can thrive. We believe that everyone has the capacity for creativity, that creativity is integral to health, and that everyone deserves the resources to let that creativity flourish. To achieve this, CFC operates four core programmatic pillars:

• Educational & Wellness Workshops: Free public workshops on financial wellness, health, creative entrepreneurship, and folk practices to give the folk the tools to sustain their livelihoods and preserve themselves and our magnificent New Orleanian culture.

• Resource Distribution & History Collection: Active archiving of present-day history, distributed freely via zines, social media, and installation/visual arts events.

• Cultural Production: High-quality, low-cost live events, including original plays, variety shows, and literary meetups.

• Community Incubation (The Third Space): Fostering a physical hub distinct from home or work where the Folk can collaborate and connect.
