We do not have a physical shelter. Instead, we operate primarily through our foster homes, online databases and at adoption events/expos.
The majority of our animals come from animal control groups and open admission shelters in Louisiana and throughout the Gulf Coast Region, where overcrowding and overpopulation lead to the euthanasia of millions of healthy, friendly pets every year.
We are committed to providing the dogs that come into Bluetails Pet Rescue with the best possible care while they wait for their forever homes by acclimating them to life outside of a shelter and providing the appropriate veterinary care needed.
We also serve our community and adopters by educating and encouraging responsible pet ownership with an emphasis on the need for spaying and neutering and Heart-Worm Prevention.
We never euthanized animals due to space or time constraints, but we may elect to euthanize in the event of a severe, untreatable/debilitating illness or extremely dangerous behavioral concerns. Because we do not kill to make space, however, we cannot take in every animal that needs help.
Because our foster homes are the backbone of Bluetails, and to help our organization run smoothly, it is our goal to provide the best experience possible. We encourage each foster home to be as involved as they are comfortable with and allow them the freedom to foster based on their needs, restrictions, or desires.
The volunteers for the Bluetails Pet Rescue are phenomenal...very knowledgeable on the pets ... the go above and beyond to ensure each pet is being loved and cared for ... they open their homes ..their lives and their hearts .. to these furbabys they are definitely dedicated to saving pets from being euthanized ... love you Bluetails Pet Rescue ??
Blue Tails is a fabulous organization and a great advocate for animals. The volunteers are very hands on and involved with the foster dogs and show much care and concern for their animals. Kudos to Bluetails and all of their hard work.
We adopted our Shih Tzu Kimba through Blue Tails. The thoroughness of the application process ensured thay not only were we a good match but that Kimba well being was top priority. Along with the love of the animals and competency of the owner, the experience was enjoyable. Our fur baby came fully vetted and he has been such a loving addition to our family. I would highly recommend their services.
Bluetail rescue is a great adoption company they are very professional, i love the fact they keep in touch with you and ask for updates of your pet you adopted
I cannot recommend adopting from bluetails more! We adopted Susie, a Jack Russell terrier mix 5 months ago and it was such a great experience that when I saw Susie's sister from the same litter was still available to adopt this month we adopted her as well! Courtney was quick and easy to communicate with and incredibly helpful with any questions.
I adopted a mini dachshund (Lexie) from Bluetails. They were forthright with information on Lexie's history, vet info, and the costs. Lexie had an overnight visit to see if she would blend into "my pack." Courtney then made a home visit for thoroughness. Her major concern was that all Bluetail animals find their forever home. She also responded immediately when I called for advice on a puppy found in Mandeville.
I'm not sure how they can improve, as I know they are doing everything they can to help make sure that they are chipped & clipped,& if lost we try to share to get them back to their owners or a foster home until families are found. They try to rescue every animal they see out on the streets, & have me trying to rescue the ones roaming on the streets alone. I believe they are a sincere group trying to take care of all the fur babies they can. I will keep sharing every post that is sent to me. I help the best way I know how.
I found a blind puppy in Mississippi late one evening an had no idea what to do with it. Here in Mississippi there was on one that wanted to be responsible for taking this dog in. So I remember Courtney Jean Davis was just getting Blue Tails put together so I called her she immediately became interested in this little dog an asked me to bring it to her. When I got there she took this little dog in cared for it got it medical attention that It needed an started training it so it could be adopted. She also kept me informed about the progress this little puppy made.it tools little wile but she got easy adopted into a good family...
