Agenda for Children

$12,546 raised by 27 donors

Founded in 1984, Agenda for Children has spent more than four decades working to make Louisiana a state where every child can thrive. Today, we strengthen the systems that support young children and families, and the early education providers who care for them.

This GiveNOLA Day, your generosity will help advance two critical efforts that directly impact early learning across Louisiana:

Promoting Early Literacy

Louisiana is making gains in literacy proficiency and some of that success can be directly tied to supporting early language development in children.

Through our Literacy Fair events, we welcome early childhood educators to engage in hands-on activities they can bring back to their classrooms. These events also provide literacy materials, including a curated library of books by Louisiana authors, helping educators foster a love of reading and language development in young children.

Preparing for Emergencies

In a state where natural disasters and other emergencies have repeatedly disrupted child care systems, Agenda continues our work to prepare early childhood providers to respond with flexibility and confidence during times of crisis.

Our upcoming Childcare in Emergencies Forum (June 10-11, 2026), will bring together participants to discuss existing needs, identify critical gaps, and strengthen partnerships to facilitate greater collaboration and coordination for the early education community before, during, and after emergencies. Co-facilitated by Save the Children USA, a global leader in supporting children during emergencies, the forum will bring together local Emergency Response leaders, Child Care Resource & Referral agency representatives, Community Network Lead Agencies, and Child Care Providers from across Louisiana.

Attendees will leave with practical tools, valuable resources, and stronger partnerships to support a more coordinated, responsive network ensuring our youngest learners can thrive after a disaster.

Your gift fuels both preparedness and possibility which ensures educators are equipped, families are supported, and children have access to safe, enriching environments no matter the circumstances.

Together, we can build a stronger, more resilient future
for Louisiana’s youngest learners.
